PALDO Swahili dictionary entry structure

Each entry in the dictionary database is considered a single Drupal node. The node then can have any number of properties.

The components of an entry

  • Node, defined by the kasahorow Database Publisher module
    • Word / Phrase
      • Plural form
      • Alternate singular spellings
      • Alternate plural spellings
    • Headword (hidden from ordinary viewers; used to locate the entry and dictate its alphabetical position)
    • Definition
    • Example
    • Notes
    • Linked language translation of definition
    • Linked language translation of example
    • Linked language translation of notes
  • Taxonomies, defined by the Taxonomy module
    • Applies to all dictionary database node types
      • Part of Speech [ Designated as primary taxonomy vocabulary ]
      • Terminology
      • Scientific classification
    • Applies to only Swahili
      • Noun class/ Verb type
      • Adjective and pronoun forms for noun classes
      • Swahili Dialects: Chi-Chifundi, Chijomvu, Kiamu, Kimakunduchi, Kimgao, Kimrima, Kimvita, Kingare, Kingozi, Kingwana, Kipate, Kipemba, Kisiu, Kitanga, Kitikuu, Kitumbatu, Kiunguja, Kivumba, Sheng, dialectical (unspecified), archaic, obsolete, recent
