Modernizing Akan with kasahorow Akan

The Akan language has a long list of spoken varieties, predominantly spoken in Ghana and CĂ´te d'Ivoire. The most popular Akan language varieties in Ghana are Asante Twi, Akuapem Twi and Fante.

Akan is our oldest supported language at kasahorow. Our Akan effort started in 2005 with an Akan language keyboard, and an online dictionary and we eventually started publishing Akan books in 2012.

Stephen Kwadwo Boateng started as kasahorow’s Akan Language Manager in 2017 and has combined his many years of experience as a language consultant with his passion for African languages to grow our Akan dictionary.
Stephen also offers lessons to those interested in learning Akan. If you have any questions or you would like to get in touch with Stephen, you can send an email to stephen.boateng@kasahorow.com.

Spelling Convention: kasahorow Akan

KASAHOROW Akan is a more readable form of written Akan. It is based on the orthographic harmonization work carried out by the Bureau of Ghana languages and The Centre for Advanced Studies of African Society.

kasahorow Akan can be used to write Akuapem Twi, Asante Twi, and Fante.
